Welcome
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Young Scots for Independence website.
The
Young Scots for Independence (YSI) is the official youth wing of the
Scottish National Party and we campaign for social justice, a Scotland
free of nuclear weapons and - above all - independence for our nation.
The
YSI, although affiliated to the SNP, is autonomous and therefore shapes
its own policies which sometimes differ from those of the SNP - such as
our opposition to the British monarchy. Our job is not to pander to
the party or the government, but to be a strong voice for young people
in Scotland and to be the conscience of the Scottish National Party.
Independence
will always be at the heart of the YSI and we make no apology for
this. Scotland needs independence, now more than ever. Unionist
politicians often say that Scotland can't afford independence, but ask
yourself this question: with £100,000,000 being spent on nuclear
weapons, with Scotland being ruled from London and with our troops being
led into illegal wars - can we really afford not to be independent.

Working with our friends in the Federation of Student Nationalists (FSN), the YSI will today embark on a seven-day campaign tour of Scotland - campaigning for every SNP candidate seeking election to the Scottish Parliament.
Our tour kicks off in Glasgow Southside as the battle bus arrives on Paisley Road, ready to flood the Southside with activists, working to re-elect Nicola Sturgeon as the Southside's MSP.
For the next seven days it's all hands on deck, as we visit fourteen key constituencies and telephone canvass voters from Shetland to Selkirk while travelling on the bus. You can keep up to date by following our tweets at #snptour or stay tuned to our facebook page for videos, photos and news from what will be a momentous campaign tour.
